Spring greetings from the Cancer Survivor Center!

Is it really spring? Here in the Rocky Mountains the past week has felt like we took a two month backwards step! After the unusually warm March we had, it's hard to know which piece of sporting equipment to keep at the front of the shed?!

Well, certainly summer is not too far off and what better time to start thinking about fitness goals! If any of you are considering setting some goals for the summer or are planning to train for an event, now is a great time to start. Let our staff tailor a training program for you or someone you know who is a cancer survivor. Contact Dr. Riggs Klika at our office to discuss testing options and exercise programs specific to each individual's needs. (rklika@aspencancer.org or 970-920-5836).

We would like to welcome Katharina Golik back to our staff! Katharina is here from the University of Munich as an intern. She is currently working on a research project with Riggs and has been a huge help to him in compiling data from our experience with our clients! We know that exercise is good for prevention of cancer, improving cancer related fatigue and improving the overall quality of life of survivors. Now we want to put this proof in writing for the medical community and beyond (even as far as Munich!). Katharina was with us last summer and was a huge help during our Bode Miller Golf Tournament fundrasier. We are thrilled to have her back on our staff for a few months!

The diagnosis of cancer can always be very daunting; recovering one's lifestyle and fitness can seem impossible. The Cancer Survivor Center was founded to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors... at any stage in their diagnosis, treatment and recovery. If you or anyone you know is contemplating the next step in recovery as a survivor, please direct them to our office. It is our desire to be a resource for our community and beyond! Let us share our expertise... it's why we are here!

Be well and keep in touch! We'd love to hear from you!

The Many, and Healthy, Ways to Live With Cancer: For some, the news prompts radical life changes like Stellar's. For others, the diagnosis, while stunning, is quickly incorporated -- by choice or necessity -- into their lives, which they carry on as best they can, juggling cancer along with job, marriage and children.
