Dear Friends,

1. We would like to thank all the participants and volunteers for the Cancer Survivor Symposium held on August 17 at the Given Institute. Additionally we would like to thank title sponsor the Aspen Valley Hospital for their generous support as well as the Colorado Cancer Coalition.

If you missed the symposium, we will have the entire day on DVD, as well as, an edited version that is about 1 hour long with highlights from all the speakers. We will announce when the DVD/CD’s are ready for distribution.

2. At the Cancer Survivor Center, we have provided services to over 76 cancer survivors over the last two years.

All of our clients are adults. However, we are dedicated to helping all cancer survivors and want you to know that we have adopted a new policy to provide all our coaching, testing, and nutritional services at no cost to any cancer survivor under 18 years.

If you know any adolescents or younger cancer survivors who would like to work with us, please let them know that there will be NO charges for them. Should you be interested in further information regarding the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Progress Review Group, please click here!

3. Last, an announcement that may be of interest to many of our clients from the Wellness Community

The Patient Active Guide to Living with Advanced Breast Cancer
This program will focus on the needs of women newly diagnosed with advanced (metastatic) breast cancer, and also includes information relevant to women who have lived 2 - 5 years with metastatic breast cancer. Clear, comprehensive and unbiased information is provided on the latest treatments, side effect management and survivorship issues and concerns for women newly diagnosed with metastatic disease, in order to empower them to be active participants in their cancer journey. The Wellness Community's Patient Active approach is used as a framework for partnering with a patient's healthcare team to make critical long-term decisions about treatment and quality of life. This program is provided through an unrestricted educational grant from GlaxoSmithKline Oncology.
